2016 Annual Members’ Meeting & Dinner, and 8th Annual Silent Auction

November 29, 2016

On Saturday evening, November 12, at Patty Jewett Clubhouse in Colorado Springs, a convivial group of HAS members and guests enjoyed  the HAS annual meeting and silent auction.

We were honored to have Catherine Moravec, Horticulturist from Colorado Springs Utilities, as our speaker. In her presentation Catherine spoke of “Becoming Stewards of our Precious Water Resources, Landscape and Gardens.” She showed us how a water garden was designed and installed to manage rainwater at the Colorado Springs Utilities Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on Mesa Road.

Our Silent Auction offered a wonderful selection of fabulous home- and garden-related items and we raised $1400 for enhancing the public gardens we maintain in Monument Valley Park. Thanks to everyone who participated for your donations and support.

Two members were elected to the board of directors: Mari Benzin and Nancy Taylor. Volunteer of the year for 2016 is Darcy Nelson and winner of the Henry Cannell Award is Louise Conner.

2014 Annual Members’ Dinner and Lecture, and the Annual Silent Auction

September 16, 2014

Friday, November 14, 2014 – 5:30 pm

We are already starting to collect items for our Annual Silent Auction.  Those of us working on the Auction/Dinner committee are asking you, once again, to find those treasures, either home or garden, that you don’t need anymore and donate so we can raise funds for the gardens.   Perhaps you have a business or service you patronize that might wish to donate a gift certificate.   This is a great way to publicize their products.  Our auction is very successful, and we are building a good reputation for having great items for great prices.  We have several ways for you to get the items to us:

1.) Bring those items to the HAS Demonstration Garden, 222 Mesa and Glen Avenue (east of Uintah, just behind the Fine Arts Building.) between 1-400 pm Monday through Thursday.

2.) Call or email HAS to request arrangements for a pickup, our gardener Diane will be happy to pick up items. If you have items to donate you can call HAS voice mail line 719-357-9427 or email hasgardens@gmail.com.

3.) Donations accepted until Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

This is such an easy way for all of you to contribute to our HAS organization.

Thank you in advance and we are looking forward to seeing you at our Annual Dinner and Silent Auction on Friday, November 14, 2014.
