Lorelei Sculpture Project

December 2, 2016

larrytArtist: Larry Terrafranca
Stone: Indiana limestone
Location: Heritage Garden (to be installed in the formal, brick-walled parterre known as Thyme Garden)
Completion Date: February 2017

Larry is busy in his Colorado Springs studio finishing his larger-than-life-size sculpture of the famous Van Briggle Lorelei Vase using the point method. Working from his clay model, he uses an arrangement of adjustable metal arms and pointer which can be set to the position of any point on the model’s surface, then use it to locate the corresponding point of the stone sculpture. We’re working with the City Parks department to install an old-fashioned metal fence around the sculpture once it’s installed. We are still accepting donations to fund Larry’s work.
