On Saturday evening, November 12, at Patty Jewett Clubhouse in Colorado Springs, a convivial group of HAS members and guests enjoyed the HAS annual meeting and silent auction.
We were honored to have Catherine Moravec, Horticulturist from Colorado Springs Utilities, as our speaker. In her presentation Catherine spoke of “Becoming Stewards of our Precious Water Resources, Landscape and Gardens.” She showed us how a water garden was designed and installed to manage rainwater at the Colorado Springs Utilities Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on Mesa Road.
Our Silent Auction offered a wonderful selection of fabulous home- and garden-related items and we raised $1400 for enhancing the public gardens we maintain in Monument Valley Park. Thanks to everyone who participated for your donations and support.
Two members were elected to the board of directors: Mari Benzin and Nancy Taylor. Volunteer of the year for 2016 is Darcy Nelson and winner of the Henry Cannell Award is Louise Conner.
