Presented by Carey Harrington, Colorado Native Plant Master
Free to all at the East Library, 5550 E. Union Blvd.
Carey loves wildflowers, and while she especially enjoys getting others excited about the ones that grow right in our area, she’s also a fan of those that grow at higher elevations in the mountains. She’s been a regular visitor to the fantastic Crested Butte Wildflower Festival the past several years.
If you’ve never been to the festival (and even if you have), you’ll enjoy learning about some of the wildflower superstars that make their appearance there. Aspen sunflowers, green gentians, glacier lilies, marsh marigolds, mule ears, elephant heads, congested sandwort (okay, not all of them have pretty names) are just a few. They don’t call Crested Butte the official Wildflower Capital of Colorado for nothing! Festival registration opens in mid-April, and Carey hopes you’ll be inspired to sign up after her presentation.
